Ohh what it's like to be a has been...

I posted about it before, but the wonderful organization Job's Daughters is a great part of my life. Tonight I passed down my position as Honored Queen to newly installed Rowan. When I joined Job's Daughters 3 years or so ago I never would have thought that I would have had the amazing opportunity to become the Honored Queen of my bethel, but it sure did happen.
About 2 years ago I was voted into what we call "Line." It is another way of saying I was elected into a line of positions that usually led to the position of Honored Queen. When I was elected in I was overjoyed. We had initiation that day and I blew my part and I was almost positive that I was never going to be elected by my sisters to lead them, but I was, they had faith apparently. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. I had set myself up for 2 years of project planning, endless phone calls, and hours of memorization out of my ritual. There is so much more to it than those things but honestly it would take the world for me to list them all here.
Getting down to it, these past 6 months as I held the station of Honored Queen I have had my ups and downs but it was possibly the best 6 months I could have asked for. Every time I turned around I had a great friend there to guide me. My bethel is full of fantastic people and I could not have asked for better sisters, parent, or guardians. Going into Jobies I had one mom and one dad, two brothers and one sister. Now after being in for over 2 years I have a endless number of sisters and an amazing amount of people that I call mom and dad.
My term as Honored Queen has taught me a enormous amount of stuff that I plan on using for years to come. I know that I will always have the lessons that I was taught and learned, and the people that I bonded with during these years there my entire life. And I am thankful for that. Well I'm officially a has been and it may be weird at first but I am so glad that my other sisters will be able to have these amazing experiences as well. Ending it in true Jobie style...

My installing team six months ago, seems like just yesterday!

5 weeks and 1 day to do...

Well it's officially here, its WINTER BREAK. As of tomorrow Longwood is officially done with final exams,  the campus will be basically empty, and the students and staff will be enjoying their 5 week winter break. Let me tell you that I am beyond ready for a break, however, I have no idea what I am going to do with myself for 5 weeks. To cure this dilemma, I do have a very long to-do list of some fun and some not so interesting things to do over these weeks.
Over the past months there have been many things that have been put on the back burner since I have been so preoccupied in college life and schoolwork. These are most of the things that I have added to my fancy winter break to do list and here's hoping that I can make it through the entire list. So here it is, my 2012-2013 winter break to do list...
1. Relax: after my first semester at Longwood, Lord knows that I need some time to just sleep, relax and spend some quality time with my puppy dogs!

2. Read the hell out of my Kindle: I have spent a lot of time reading textbooks upon textbooks and I am ready for some nice quality time with my coffee cups and my nice white Kindle. I need some murder mysteries, and love stories in my life.
3. Work and make that money: I am a broke college student and as many of you know, that is a tough life to live. I am planning on working at the good old Outback this break and hopefully I can made some money to save up for some of those things that I need/want. (This is if my boss will let me work, haven't particularly asked them yet...)
4.Bake some goodies: I am ready to try some of those wonderful recipes that I have found of pinterest.com. I have built up my food board and I think this is the perfect time to try all of these wonderful things, especially all those delicious looking peppermint ideas for the holiday season.
5. Spend time with the people I love: I really want to make up for some of the time that I have lost at school. I can't wait to see my family, my brother who I have only seen twice since August, and my friends that go to all different schools around Virginia and even other states. I can't wait to have lunch with some of my yearbook ladies that I haven't seen in quite some time! It's been different this year without them all the time!

6. Buy Shannon the best Christmas present: I have been trying to think of the perfect Christmas present for the best roommate ever and I think that over break I am going to be able to perfect this wonderful present. I have been contemplating this all for way too long!
7. Follow through with the best Christmas present idea: I am ready to follow through with this wonderful idea that I have for such a great person and hopefully they will love it as much as I do!
8. Prepare for another semester at Longwood: I love it here at my wonderful school and I will be beyond ready to come back after these 5 weeks.

I have hit a roadblock of things that I have planned to do, however, believe me I will add tons to this list. I am looking forward to this break, even though I know I'm going to miss my home away from home very much. And I know very much that I am going to cry myself to sleep every night when I can't talk to and see my roommate all the time. But I think we can do it Shannon! I hope that all those college students out there have a wonderful break and get to do great things over break as well! Happy Holidays guys!
